Congrats on your new baby! You're probably wondering what is the best way to take care of your BabyFace Mug... well you've come to the right page! It is important to recognize that every artist is different and the care instructions for one potter may be different from another potter.
Material and Surface

So, each one of my babies is made from speckled stoneware, white stoneware, or porcelain, but regardless they all have a matte exterior finish. I love the look of matte glazes especially for the babies faces. The interior is always a glossy or matte glaze. The bottom of the mug is also always finished with a matte underglaze.
Surface Sealer
Recently, I started to coat the matte exteriors in Liquid Quartz! This is microwave, dishwasher, and food safe! It was just what I was looking for. This sealer makes the exterior waterproof, stain proof, scratch resistant, and prevents the surface from fading in color. This adds another layer of protection to my mugs. When water hits the surface it will simply bead off.
Even if the mug you purchase from me is not a BabyFace Mug, but it has a matte exterior, it will still be treated with this!

So How Can I Best Take Care of My Mug?
Your baby is microwave, food, and drink! Even though the liquid quartz makes the matte exterior water proof, I still highly recommend with any handmade pottery to hand wash. You can use a soft sponge and soap to clean the exterior and interior.
*** IF you purchased a BabyFace Mug Oct 2023 and after those BabyFace Mugs are all coated with Liquid Quartz. If you purchased a Babyface mug/cup prior to that please continue to hand wash with a soft cloth and soap = ) Your babies exterior matte surface is fired to cone maturity, but it can have a chance of staining, scratching, or color slightly wearing if scrubbed to hard or too many cycles in the dishwasher. Please continue hand washing!
If you purchased a mug before Oct 2023 and would like it to be waterproof/sealed on the exterior please reach out through email and I would be happy to do it for Free! Just simply ship the mug to me and Ill send it back.
Mugs, Bowls, Cups, etc (basically not BabyFace Mugs)
So what about non-babyface mug products? All of my other cups, mugs, bowls, etc that have a glossy exterior finish are safe for microwave, food/drink, and dishwasher (unless I have listed it online or at a market otherwise). If you have spots on the exterior of the mug or bowl that are bare due to decals or other non-glossy texture I would hand wash! Always email me and ask if you have questions = )
